DURANT, Okla. – The Summer Community Band will perform a concert of audience favorites on Saturday, May 31 at 6 p.m. on the front lawn of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The ensemble, which consists of amateur and professional musicians from throughout the region, is an annual summer tradition. “The audience will get to hear many classic styles for this type of group,” said the conductor of the group, Southeastern’s Director of Bands, Dr. Jacob Wallace. “There will be plenty of marches, patriotic songs, and arrangements of familiar classical music and movie soundtracks. It will be an enjoyable evening for all.” Joining the group as featured guest soloist is Southeastern’s instructor of trombone, Dr. Bruce Faske. The performance is free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held in Montgomery Auditorium.
